ANS Newsletter (Fall 1999): Peter K. Tompa Elected New Council Member
At its meeting on October 23, 1999, the Society's Council elected Peter K. Tompa to the Council. Mr. Tompa is an attorney with Carr Goodson Lee and Warner in Washington. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a BS in Foreign Service; he also graduated cum laude from Washington College of Law, American University. At a meeting of the US Cultural Property Committee to discuss a request by the Italian Government that the US impose import controls over all antiquities from Italy, Mr. Tompa presented the case for exempting coins from import restrictions because of their unique nature as objects that traveled widely. Mr. Tompa collects Greek and Roman coins. He became a member of the Society in 1993 and was elected Fellow in 1999.
