ANS Newsletter (Fall 1999): Fellowship in Roman Studies

The Fellowship in Roman Studies for 1999/00 has been awarded to Michael J. Thomas, a graduate student in the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Texas at Austin. Thomas holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.A. in Art History from Southern Methodist University. He has also served as Field Director of the Poggio Colla excavation in Tuscany.

Thomas's dissertation is entitled "The Forum of the Emperors: Propaganda and Dynastic Legitimacy in the Imperial Forum Romanum, 27 B.C. to A.D. 305." He is spending the fall term at the ANS studying numismatic representations of monuments in the Forum.
