ACTIVITIES AND AWARDS
* A great time was had by all at the ANA "Worlds Fair of Money" in
San
Francisco, July 27-31, 2005. Our table was well visited and many thanks
go to those members who generously volunteered their time to help manage
it: Phil Carrigan, Robert Leonard, Glenn Lindwall, Darrell Low, Emmett
McDonald, Eugene Markov and Tom Sheehan.
* ANS publications had great success at this year's NLG Annual Writers'
Competition for 2005. Our congratulations go to all the 2005 NLG award
recipients. The ANS won the following awards:
Best Specialized Book:
* Museum and Exhibition Catalog: A Simple Souvenir, Coins & Medals

EVENTS
* Plans are proceeding for the 2006 Annual Dinner Gala,
which will be held on Thursday, January 12 at the Sky Club
Penthouse of the Met Life Building in NYC. Prior to the
dinner, we will be holding an auction of numismatic books,
manuscripts, and memoribilia to benefit the Francis D.
Campbell Librarian Chair. If you have items to donate (of
approximately $400 or more in value), please contact event
Chair Rick Witschonke at witschonke@numismatics.org.

* August 1954: George Miles succeeds Sydney Noe as Chief Curator
In early 1954, after more than 40 years with the ANS, Sydney
Noe retired. In August of 1954, George Miles succeeded Noe as
